Transforming Churches and Communities

Gannett Foundation - Community Action Grants

Typically grants are made for substantial projects which require and merit awards of between £5,000 and £10,000. Small amounts will be considered but the Foundation actively encourages imaginative and ambitious projects on a bigger scale.

The Foundation values practical and creative projects that bring lasting benefits to the communities and neighbourhoods served by its newspapers and online audience. This includes schemes for neighbourhood improvement and local problem solving, economic development, youth development, education and cultural enrichment, care of the elderly or infirm, help for the disadvantaged or disabled, and environmental conservation.

The scheme is open to local registered charities within the circulation area of a Newsquest publication in Great Britain.

The Foundation will favour projects that demonstrate good planning, oversight and financial responsibility. Applicants must supply copies of their most recent accounts (where required by the Charities Commission) or other appropriate financial information, together with any supporting materials and details of their organisation’s managing committee.
