National - Gannett Foundation UK Grants - 18 Oct 2019
Grants are available for UK registered charities in areas in which Newsquest publications are circulated for a range of community projects that benefit the local community.
The Gannett Foundation provides funding to support local registered charities in the areas where Newsquest operates in the UK. Grants are available within its circulation area only.
The Foundation values practical and creative projects that bring lasting benefits to the communities and neighbourhoods served by its newspapers and online audience. This includes schemes for neighbourhood improvement and local problem solving, economic development, youth development, education and cultural enrichment, care of the elderly or infirm, help for the disadvantaged or disabled, and environmental conservation.
The Foundation particularly invites clearly reasoned applications asking for specific items of equipment or materials. Most applications are for relatively modest sums meeting every-day needs, and that will be the special focus in 2019.
How To Apply
In general, the deadline for 2019 applications is 12 noon on Friday, 18 October 2019. Applicants are advised to check their local newspaper for the deadline in their area as the closing date for applications can vary according to the local newspaper.
The Trustees will meet to make awards at the end of November 2019. Only successful applicants will be notified. Groups that have not heard by the end of January 2020 should assume they have not been successful.
The completed form can be sent either by email or by post to the editor of the applicant's local paper.
The grants will be monitored by the relevant local newspaper Editor, and it will be a condition of each grant that the recipient must report back on it use to the Chairman of the Trustees within 12 months of the award.
Grants are made once a year, in the autumn. Promotions usually start in Newsquest regional newspapers from late July/early August onwards.
Groups should contact their local newspaper for further details
